Watermerken en Etsringen - Diagnose en Behandeling

Om watermerken, minerale afzettingen en etsringen op steenvlakken te identificeren en te behandelen. De juiste behandeling hangt af van de oorzaak.

Treatment Variants

Mineral deposits / limescale rings (white residue ON the surface)

1. Lithofin MN Wash & Clean — For acid-sensitive stone (marble, limestone, travertine): apply MN Wash & Clean diluted 1:5 to the affected area. Gently work with a soft nylon pad in circular motions. The mild alkaline formula dissolves mineral deposits without attacking the stone.
   Dilution: 1:5 · Wait: 5 minutes
2. Lithofin MN Wash & Clean — Rinse thoroughly with clean water. If deposits remain, repeat with slightly stronger dilution (1:3). For stubborn hard water rings, apply undiluted, leave 5 minutes, scrub gently.
   Dilution: 1:3 to undiluted · Wait: 5 minutes

Mineral deposits on acid-resistant stone (granite, slate, basalt)

1. Lithofin KF Cementsluierverwijderaar — For acid-resistant stone only: apply a small amount of Cement Residue Remover to mineral deposits. This acidic product dissolves calcium quickly. Leave 2-5 minutes maximum.
   Dilution: diluted 1:5 · Wait: 2-5 minutes
2. Clean water — Rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water to neutralise the acid. Dry with clean cloth.
   Wait: immediate

Etch marks / acid damage on polished marble or limestone

1. Lithofin MN Polish Crème — Apply a small amount of Polish Cream to the etch mark. Work in circular motions with a soft cotton cloth or felt pad. For light etching: 2-3 minutes of hand buffing is enough. For deeper etching: use more pressure and buff for 5-10 minutes.
   Dilution: undiluted · Wait: work until shine returns
2. Lithofin MN Polish Crème — Extend polishing slightly beyond the etch mark to blend the restored area with the surrounding surface. Wipe clean with damp cloth. Inspect in angled light — etch marks are most visible in reflected light.
   Dilution: undiluted · Wait: 5-10 minutes

Trapped moisture / dark patches in stone

1. None — patience — If the stone is unsealed, trapped moisture usually evaporates naturally in 24-72 hours. Do NOT apply heat (hairdryer, heat gun) — rapid drying can cause surface cracking on some stones. Simply allow natural airflow.
   Wait: 24-72 hours
2. Lithofin MN Vlekstop — Once completely dry, seal the stone with Stain-Stop to prevent future moisture absorption. This makes cleaning easier and prevents water marks from forming.
   Dilution: undiluted · Wait: 24 hours before use

Tips

• De waterdruppeltest is de meest betrouwbare manier om minerale afzettingen van etsmerken te onderscheiden - altijd diagnosticeren voordat u behandelt.
• Gebruik onderzetters op marmeren oppervlakken. Een enkele citroenschijf kan marmer in minder dan 60 seconden etsen.
• In gebieden met hard water ontstaan meer minerale afzettingen. Overweeg gedestilleerd water te gebruiken voor het reinigen van gepolijst marmer.
• Polish Cream werkt alleen op calciumhoudende stenen (marmer, kalksteen, travertin). Het herstelt de glans niet op graniet of kunststeen.
• Bij wijdverspreide etsing op een marmeren vloer, overweeg professionele diamantpolijsten - Polish Cream is alleen voor plaatselijke reparaties.

⚠️ Warnings

• Gebruik NOOIT zure kalkverwijderaars op marmer, kalksteen of travertin - het zuur zal NIEUWE etsmerken creëren.
• Gebruik NOOIT azijn, citroen of cola als 'huismiddeltjes' op kalksteen - deze zuren veroorzaken juist de schade die u probeert te herstellen.
• Verwar etsmerken niet met vlekken: etsen is fysieke oppervlaktbeschadiging (verwijderd materiaal), geen verkleuring. Vlekverwijderaars zullen etsmerken niet herstellen.
• Op mat (gezoet) marmer zijn etsmerken minder zichtbaar maar nog steeds aanwezig. Polish Cream kan meer glans toevoegen dan het omringende gezoete oppervlak - test eerst op een verborgen gebied.

Expected Result

Watermerken correct gediagnosticeerd en behandeld. Minerale afzettingen opgelost, etsmerken gepolijst, of vocht op natuurlijke wijze laten verdampen.
