Coverage: Spot treatment — 0.5-1 kg per stain
Deep-set oil stain? OIL-EX lifts it out without etching the stone.

A dark ring of cooking oil spreads across your polished kitchen marble, turning an elegant surface into a blotchy eyesore. Standard cleaners only smear the stain deeper. Lithofin OIL-EX erases that mark by drawing the oil out of the stone-no sanding, no etching.

What OIL-EX Does

OIL-EX is a neutral pH 7 poultice cleaner for natural stone, terrazzo, concrete, and cotto. The solvent-charged paste penetrates up to 10 mm, liquefies trapped oils, and wicks them into an absorbent matrix that dries to a powder. One treatment removes up to 90 % of fresh stains; deep, months-old spots may need a second 24 h cycle.

When to Use

  • Marble kitchen countertop with olive-oil shadow - apply neat (1:1) over a 15 cm circle.
  • Granite BBQ bench splashed by sunflower oil - apply neat (1:1) to a 5 mm layer, cover with film.
  • Sandstone patio plate holding a grease-laden grill - apply neat (1:1) across each drip mark.
  • Concrete garage floor stained by motor oil - apply neat (1:1) over 20 cm diameter spots.
  • Terracotta tile near a fryer with long-standing grease - apply neat (1:1) and repeat after 24 h if needed.

How to Apply

  1. Stir the ready-to-use paste until homogeneous, then spread a 5 mm layer 2 cm beyond the stain edges.
  2. Cover with household cling film to slow evaporation and leave undisturbed for 2-24 h.
  3. Remove the film, allow the paste to dry fully, then sweep or vacuum off the powder residue.
  4. Rinse once with Lithofin MN Wash & Clean diluted 1:200 to neutralise remaining solvent.

Coverage: 0.5-1 kg per stain, equal to 0.2-0.4 m². Drying time before sweeping: minimum 2 h on marble, up to 24 h on highly porous sandstone. Re-treat immediately if a shadow remains.

Surface Compatibility

The poultice suits porous stones such as marble, granite, limestone, and concrete. Its neutral chemistry avoids etching acid-sensitive Mohs 3 stones while the solvent action is strong enough to penetrate low-porosity Mohs 7 granite. Do not use on glazed ceramic or stainless steel where oil sits on the surface-simply wipe those materials.

Choosing the Right Product

For large-area dirt films use MN Power-Clean at 1:5. For daily wipe-downs select MN Wash & Clean at 1:200. After removing a stain, seal the stone with MN Stain-Stop to prevent repeat penetration.

Pro Tips

  • Score the cling film with two pinholes; minimal airflow accelerates solvent evaporation without skinning.
  • Warm the stone to 25 °C with a hair dryer before application-oil viscosity drops 30 %, improving extraction.
  • On vertical surfaces secure the paste with painter’s tape to maintain a uniform 5 mm thickness and avoid sagging.

Frequently asked questions

How long should OIL-EX stay on marble?

Keep the paste covered for 2–24 h. Shallow stains lift in 4 h; deeper marks need the full day.

Can OIL-EX remove motor-oil spots on granite?

Yes. One 0.5 kg application extracts about 90 % of the stain; repeat if a grey halo remains.

Do I need to seal the stone after using OIL-EX?

Sealing with MN Stain-Stop reduces absorption by 60–80 %, preventing new oil ingress.

How many times can I reapply OIL-EX on limestone?

Up to three consecutive cycles are safe because the formula is pH 7 and solvent load is 35 %.
