Oil stains with embedded dirt - Combined Treatment Guide

Oil stains with embedded dirt

Kitchen floors and countertops where cooking oil has mixed with dust and foot traffic grime

Problems: Oil Grease + General CleaningSurfaces: Natural Stone, Ceramics, Artificial Stone, Cotto Terracotta

Why order matters

When two problems appear together, the treatment order is critical. Using the wrong product first can spread stains, neutralise chemicals, or cause new damage. Follow these steps in order.

Treatment Steps

  1. Step 1: Oil Grease

    Product: Lithofin OIL-EX

Why this order: Oil must be removed first - cleaning products cannot penetrate through an oil layer. Dirt trapped in oil comes out when the oil is lifted.

Method: Apply OIL-EX directly to oil stains. For fresh stains: 15 min dwell time. For old stains: use poultice method (saturate kitchen paper, cover with cling film, leave 2-24 hours). Remove residue with clean cloth.

Wait: Allow surface to dry completely (2-4 hours)

  2. Step 2: General Cleaning

    Product: Lithofin MN Power-Clean

Why this order: After oil removal, remaining dirt and grime can now be reached by the cleaning product.

Method: Dilute 1:5 for heavy soiling, 1:10 for light. Apply with sponge, leave 5-10 minutes, scrub with nylon brush, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Wait: Allow to dry 24 hours before sealing

Warnings

  • Do not use Power-Clean before removing oil - it will spread the oil further
  • On marble or limestone, use MN Wash & Clean instead of Power-Clean
