Slate Interior floor - Complete Care Guide
From installation to daily maintenance: everything you need to know
Initial Care (After Installation)
When: After grout curing (5-7 days)
- Clean with Lithofin MN Power-Clean 1:5 to remove installation residue
- Allow to dry completely
- Choose finish: natural look → MN Stain-Stop; enhanced colour → MN Colour Intensifier or MN Slate-Oil
- Apply chosen product evenly, remove excess
- Allow 24 hours to cure
Products needed: Lithofin MN Power-Clean, Lithofin MN Stain-Stop, Lithofin MN Colour Intensifier, Lithofin MN Slate-Oil
Daily Maintenance
Frequency: Daily to weekly
- Sweep to remove grit and dust
- Mop with Lithofin MN Wash & Clean diluted in water
Products: Lithofin MN Wash & Clean
Do NOT:
- Do not use oil-based cleaners unless using the oil-finish system
- Avoid wax-based products unless deliberately creating a wax finish
- Do not use excessive water
Periodic Deep Cleaning
Frequency: Every 3-6 months
- Lithofin MN Power-Clean diluted 1:5
- Apply, leave 5-10 minutes, scrub, rinse

Protection & Sealing
Re-seal every: Every 2-5 years depending on traffic
- Deep clean first
- Dry completely
- Re-apply chosen finish (Stain-Stop, Colour Intensifier, or Slate-Oil)

Troubleshooting
Slate losing colour intensity
Re-apply Lithofin MN Slate-Oil or MN Colour Intensifier after deep cleaning.
Flaking/peeling surface layers
This is a natural characteristic of some slate types (delamination). Cannot be prevented. Loose flakes can be removed and the surface re-treated.
White marks from salt or minerals
MN Power-Clean to remove surface deposits. Re-seal.
