MN Colour Intensifier for rough, absorbent natural and artificial Stone
Art. 167-11-B
Your freshly laid slate kitchen floor looked rich and vibrant at first, but a few weeks of traffic have left the surface looking pale and dusty. One thin coat of MN Colour Intensifier restores the deep charcoal tone while guarding against stains for up to five years.
What MN Colour Intensifier Does
MN Colour Intensifier is a neutral solvent-based impregnator for rough, absorbent natural stone. Resins penetrate 2-4 mm, bind to pore walls, and raise light absorption, so colours read 20-40 % darker. The carrier flashes off in 30 minutes, leaving a breathable layer that repels water and oil to 0.5 µL contact angle.
When to Use
- Honed granite countertops - ready to use, 50 ml/m²
- Tumbled travertine bathroom walls - ready to use, 40 ml/m²
- Sandstone patio slabs before sealing - ready to use, 80 ml/m²
- Interior slate floors after deep cleaning - ready to use, 60 ml/m²
- Faded bluestone hearths - ready to use, 55 ml/m²
How to Apply
- Clean the surface with MN Power-Clean; rinse and let dry 24 h.
- Pour MN Colour Intensifier into a paint tray; do not dilute.
- Using a lint-free cloth, wipe a thin, even film, about 50 ml/m², keeping a wet edge. Time: 5 min per m².
- After 15 min, buff off surplus with a white pad to prevent gloss patches.
Coverage: 10-30 m²/L depending on porosity. Full colour develops after 24 h; avoid moisture during this period.
Surface Compatibility
The formula excels on granite, sandstone, limestone, slate, and bluestone because it fills medium-to-high porosity without forming a surface film, so the stone keeps its matte texture. The neutral pH means no etching on acid-sensitive marble or limestone. Do not use on polished marble, already colour-treated stone, or where a pale, natural look is required.
Choosing the Right Product
For routine washing after treatment, use MN Wash & Clean. For removing construction dirt before intensifying, use MN Power-Clean.
Pro Tips
- Work in 5 m² sections; this keeps wet-edge time under 5 minutes and prevents lap marks.
- Warm stone (18-25 °C) absorbs 15 % more product than cold stone, giving a stronger colour pop.
- Reapply after high-pressure washing outdoors; UV and water accelerate fade to 50 % after 4 years.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between MN Colour Intensifier and MN Slate-Oil?
Colour Intensifier suits all stone types and lasts 3-5 years. MN Slate-Oil is wax-rich, gives a satin sheen, and needs annual renewal.
Why should I test MN Colour Intensifier first?
Absorption varies; a hidden test at 50 ml/m² shows final shade within 24 h and avoids uneven darkening on patchy stone.
Does honed marble accept MN Colour Intensifier?
Yes, honed marble takes 40-60 ml/m² and darkens evenly. Polished marble should be avoided because the finish may look blotchy.
How long does a treated slate floor stay enhanced?
Indoor slate keeps its colour 4–5 years; traffic and strong cleaners reduce life to about 3 years before a fresh coat is needed.
