Rain marks and oil splashes stop at the surface with one 40 ml/m² coat

Your patio flags darken after every rain and the kitchen backsplash absorbs oil splashes within minutes. Splash-Stop W blocks water and oil without changing the feel or colour of the stone, giving you time to wipe spills before they soak in.

What Splash-Stop W Does

Splash-Stop W is a neutral impregnator for absorbent natural stone and unglazed ceramics. The 0 % solvent, pH ≈ 7 formula lines capillaries with nano-sized polysiloxanes, reducing water uptake by ≥ 90 % while letting vapour escape. One coat at 40 ml/m² seals pores up to 0.2 µm, so food stains and algae spores cannot anchor.

When to Use

  • Polished vanity tops in bathrooms - apply undiluted 40 ml/m² after deep cleaning with MN Power-Clean.
  • Rough granite barbecue surrounds - one flood coat undiluted 40 ml/m².
  • Sandstone garden paths before winter freeze-thaw - undiluted 40 ml/m².
  • Unglazed ceramic tile splashbacks - undiluted 40 ml/m².
  • High-porosity terracotta floors needing a matte finish - two wet-on-wet passes, each 40 ml/m².

How to Apply

  1. Ensure the surface is dry (< 2 % moisture) and free of wax or grout haze.
  2. Brush, roller, or low-pressure spray a generous, even coat undiluted (40 ml/m²).
  3. After 10 minutes, redistribute puddles with a dry roller to avoid gloss spots.
  4. Let the surface dry ventilated; protect from water for 4 hours.

Coverage is 25 m²/L on all listed substrates. Full water repellency develops after 24 hours; re-impregnate every 12-24 months on high-traffic zones.

Surface Compatibility

Splash-Stop W excels on granite, cotto, and concrete because its small molecules penetrate dense matrices without leaving a film. The neutral chemistry will not etch acid-sensitive marble or limestone. Use confidently on slate, basalt, and bluestone. Do not use on fully glazed or polished non-absorbent tiles that require a sheen.

Choosing the Right Product

For stripping old wax or cement film before sealing, use MN Power-Clean. For kitchens needing strong oil resistance, finish with MN Stain-Stop instead of Splash-Stop W.

Pro Tips

  • Test absorbency by dropping 1 ml of water; if it darkens within 30 seconds, impregnation is needed.
  • Warm stone (15-25 °C) opens pores by up to 18 %, increasing penetration depth.
  • Rinse application tools immediately; cured polysiloxane hardens in 20 minutes and is difficult to remove.

Frequently asked questions

Can Splash-Stop W darken marble?

On polished marble the colour shift is <3 % ΔE. Always test a 10×10 cm spot first.

How long before a granite patio can get wet after Splash-Stop W?

Keep rain off for 4 hours at 20 °C; full repellency forms after 24 hours.

Does Splash-Stop W block vapour on sandstone?

No. Water vapour diffusion rate remains >80 % of untreated stone, so the slab can still breathe.

How much product do I need for 15 m² of cotto?

At 40 ml/m² you need 600 ml; round up to 1 L for two wet-on-wet passes.
