Mortar haze on sensitive tiles? FUGEX lifts it in minutes.

Your newly laid patio still shows stubborn grey haze where joint mortar smeared onto the porcelain tiles. Household detergents glide over it, scrubbing only spreads the film. Universal FUGEX cuts through that mortar residue in minutes and rinses away without etching the tile surface.

What FUGEX Does

FUGEX is an alkaline gel cleaner for ceramic, porcelain, and other acid-sensitive surfaces. With a pH of 11.5 it breaks the cementitious bond in joint mortar residues while surfactants lift greasy dirt. The thixotropic gel (viscosity 4,500 mPa·s) clings to vertical joints, giving the active ingredients a 3-minute window to dissolve particles up to 50 µm thick.

When to Use

  • Fresh mortar haze on patio porcelain: dilute 1 : 10.
  • Epoxy streaks on indoor ceramic shower walls: use 1 : 5.
  • Deep-set grime in textured granite kitchen flooring: 1 : 5.
  • Chalky runoff on balcony concrete pavers after winter: 1 : 10.
  • Annual spring outdoor cleaning routine for clinker steps: 1 : 10.

How to Apply

  1. Prepare a 1 : 5 or 1 : 10 solution in a bucket and wet the surface. PT5M
  2. Spread with a white pad or sponge, massaging the joints. PT5M
  3. Allow the gel to act for 3 minutes; do not let it dry. PT3M
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water until no foam remains. PT5M

Average coverage is 15 m²/L on 300 × 300 mm tiles with 3 mm joints. The surface is traffic-ready immediately after rinsing; no drying time required.

Surface Compatibility

FUGEX performs best on slate, basalt, granite, porcelain, ceramic, glass mosaic, concrete, and clinker because these materials rate Mohs 5-7 and resist the alkaline pH, so the gel cleans without etching or colour shift. Do not use on surfaces that are not resistant to gel-based cleaners, such as untreated wood or polished aluminium.

Choosing the Right Product

For greasy kitchen film on stone, use KF Grout Cleaner. For long-term joint protection after cleaning, finish with KF Grout Protector.

Pro Tips

  • Warm water (30 °C) speeds reaction by 20 % on epoxy smears.
  • Agitate with a nylon brush; mechanical action doubles removal rate on rough granite.
  • Finish with a low-pressure rinse-10 L/min flow prevents re-depositing fines in joints.

Frequently asked questions

Can FUGEX be used on polished granite?

Yes. Mohs-7 granite resists the pH 11.5 formula, so no dulling occurs. Rinse thoroughly to avoid residue.

How long should FUGEX stay on ceramic tiles?

Three minutes are sufficient for 95 % of mortar films. Extend to five minutes only on very heavy deposits.

Does FUGEX remove epoxy grout stains?

Yes, at 1 : 5 dilution the gel softens epoxy smears up to 50 µm thick; mechanical agitation is still required.

Is FUGEX safe for slate shower floors?

Safe. Slate is acid-resistant and Mohs 4, so the alkaline cleaner will not etch. Use 1 : 10 for routine cleans.

What is the coverage rate of FUGEX?

Expect roughly 15 m² per litre on standard 30 × 30 cm tiles with 3 mm joints; porous concrete may need more.
