Spill-prone stone? Seal it once, wipe stains away for years.

Your marble kitchen countertop handles coffee, red wine, and cooking oil every day. One missed wipe-up can sink deep, leaving a dark ring you cannot polish away. Lithofin MN Stain-Stop ends that worry by filling the pores before stains reach them.

What Stain-Stop Does

Stain-Stop is a neutral solvent-based impregnator for natural stone. Silane and siloxane molecules (pH ≈7.5) migrate up to 2 mm into the capillaries, then polymerise, creating a water- and oil-repellent network that leaves the surface appearance unchanged. You block red wine, oil, or coffee for 8-12 hours, giving you time to wipe spills without marks.

When to Use

  • Freshly installed marble kitchen tops - Ready to use, 70 ml/m².
  • Outdoor sandstone terrace before winter - Ready to use, 150 ml/m².
  • Bathroom limestone vanity after deep clean - Ready to use, 90 ml/m².
  • High-traffic granite lobby floor needing stain protection - Ready to use, 120 ml/m².

How to Apply

  1. Ensure the stone is dry for 24-48 h and free of residues; clean with MN Wash & Clean.
  2. Pour Stain-Stop into a tray and apply evenly with a lint-free cloth, sponge, or brush, keeping the surface wet for 5 min.
  3. After 10-15 min penetration, buff off all excess with a dry white pad until the surface feels dry.
  4. For very porous stone, repeat once while the first coat is still tack-free (within 30 min).

Coverage: 5-20 m²/L. Light use after 2 h; full chemical resistance after 24 h.

Surface Compatibility

Excellent results on marble, granite, limestone, sandstone, slate, bluestone, concrete, and terrazzo. The neutral chemistry avoids etching acid-sensitive Mohs 3 stones while penetrating dense Mohs 7 granite. Do not use on pre-sealed, wet, or highly polished stone where residue cannot be buffed off.

Choosing the Right Product

For routine washing, follow with MN Easy-Clean. For basic entry-level sealing choose MN Basic Protection; for ceramics use KF Stain-Stop; for water-based, low-odour jobs select Fleckstop >W<.

Pro Tips

  • Test absorbency: a 3-second water drop that darkens tells you impregnation is needed.
  • Warm stone (18-25 °C) opens pores by up to 15 %, improving penetration.
  • Buff residue thoroughly; leftover film can reduce water vapour permeability by 30 %.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Stain-Stop an impregnator, not a coating?

It penetrates up to 2 mm and cures inside the pores, leaving no surface film, so texture and slip resistance stay unchanged.

How often should you reapply Stain-Stop on a granite countertop?

Reapply every 3–5 years indoors; heavy-use commercial kitchens may need a test after 2 years.

Can Stain-Stop protect acid-sensitive marble from lemon juice etching?

It prevents staining but cannot stop chemical etching; always wipe acids quickly even on treated marble.

How much Stain-Stop do you need for rough sandstone?

Allow 100–200 ml/m², giving 5–10 m² per litre on very porous sandstone.
