Soapstone Fireplace surround - Complete Care Guide
From installation to daily maintenance: everything you need to know
Initial Care (After Installation)
When: Upon installation and during the first year
- Clean the surface with Lithofin MN Wash & Clean, diluted with water at a ratio of 1:10.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Apply a thin layer of mineral oil using a soft cloth to enhance the natural patina.
- Allow the oil to absorb for 30 minutes, then wipe off any excess with a clean cloth.
- Repeat the oil application weekly for the first month, then monthly for the rest of the year.

Daily Maintenance
Frequency: After each use
- Wipe down the surface with a damp cloth to remove dust and soot.
- Use Lithofin MN Wash & Clean for stubborn stains, diluted at 1:20.
- Dry the surface thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.

Do NOT:
- Never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.
- Never leave water or spills to sit on the surface.
- Never use steel wool or harsh scrubbing pads.
- Never apply wax or sealers.
- Never expose to direct flame or excessive heat.
Periodic Deep Cleaning
Frequency: Every 6 months
- Remove any loose debris with a soft brush.
- Apply Lithofin MN Power-Clean undiluted to the surface.
- Allow it to dwell for 5-10 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft brush.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Reapply mineral oil if necessary to maintain the patina.
