Lithofin ASR
Art. 041-11-B
Your commercial kitchen floor shows black grease lanes, the factory walkway is coated with forklift rubber, and ordinary detergents leave a sticky film. ASR breaks that film in minutes so you rinse away every trace on the first pass.
What ASR Does
ASR is a high-alkaline cleaner for hard tile and stone. With a pH 12.5 surfactant matrix, it splits fatty acids, lifts mineral grime, and suspends soot so you mop or vacuum it away. At 100 m² per litre the formula dissolves grease layers up to 2 mm thick within 5 minutes, yet remains safe for acid-sensitive bluestone because no acids are present.
When to Use
- Granite kitchen counters after a fry session - dilute 1:10. See granite guide.
- Factory slate floor with forklift tyre marks - dilute 1:5.
- Outdoor porcelain pavers stained by barbecue fat - use neat (undiluted).
- Concrete garage slab with engine oil spill - dilute 1:5 and scrub machine.
- Restaurant ceramic wall tiles showing airborne grease - dilute 1:10. Problem details at oil-grease issue page.
How to Apply
- Pre-wet alkaline-tolerant surface with clean water.
- Apply ASR at the chosen dilution using mop, sponge, or single-disk scrubber - 100 m²/L equals 10-20 ml per m².
- Allow 5 minutes contact; keep wet by agitating every minute.
- Vacuum or mop off, then rinse twice with water.
Coverage: 100 m²/L on smooth stone, 60 m²/L on rough textures. No drying time; area is traffic-ready after final rinse.
Surface Compatibility
On dense stones such as slate, basalt, and clinker tiles the alkaline base penetrates low porosity (0.5-1.5 %) without etching. Porous sandstone cleans evenly once pre-wetted, while polished granite resists streaking thanks to Mohs 7 hardness. Do not use on surfaces that craze or fade in pH > 11, for example aluminium trim, waxed wood, or dyed concrete toppers.
Choosing the Right Product
For stripping acrylic wax films use Lithofin PRO WAX-OFF. For pinpoint oil spots that have already penetrated into stone pores, switch to Lithofin PRO FLECK-OFF. ASR handles wide-area grease and soot; the others target localised residues.
Pro Tips
- Warm the solution to 30 °C to cut dwell time by 40 % on winter floors.
- On vertical ceramic walls start at the bottom; gravity keeps the surface wet for the full 5 minutes.
- Neutralise any run-off onto marble thresholds immediately with fresh water to avoid alkaline dulling.

For heavy soiling, use undiluted
Frequently asked questions
Can ASR etch polished granite?
No. Granite is Mohs 7 and acid-resistant, while ASR is alkaline; no etching occurs even neat.
What dilution of ASR removes fryer grease from porcelain tiles?
Start 1:5. If a grease film remains, repeat undiluted for 5 minutes contact.
Is ASR safe on bluestone patio slabs?
Yes. Although bluestone is acid-sensitive, pH 12.5 does not attack the calcite matrix; rinse thoroughly.
How often can I use ASR on a concrete garage floor?
As needed. Weekly use at 1:10 shows no surface change after 50 cycles.
