Glass Mosaic Stone Care Guide
Properties, maintenance, and expert advice for glass mosaic surfaces
About Glass Mosaic
Glass mosaic tiles are small tiles (typically 15x15mm to 50x50mm) made from molten glass, available in a dazzling range of colours, finishes, and effects. They are mounted on mesh sheets for easy installation. Their non-porous, reflective surface creates stunning visual effects, particularly in pools, spas, and feature walls.
Glass is inherently non-porous and acid-resistant, making the tile surface virtually maintenance-free. However, the grout joints between the many small tiles represent a large proportion of the surface area and require careful cleaning and protection, particularly in wet environments.
The main care consideration with glass mosaic is gentleness. While the glass itself is chemically resistant, concentrated alkaline or acidic cleaners can attack the adhesive or mesh backing. Always use diluted cleaning solutions and test first. Cement residue removal after installation requires extra care - undiluted acid can damage the reflective coating on the back of the tiles.
