Bluestone stains disappear: one coat of MN Protector blocks oil instantly.

Your bluestone kitchen island keeps showing dark rings from olive oil and coffee. One wipe leaves a shadow in the pores. MN Protector stops the stains before they form, sealing every capillary in one easy coat.

What MN Protector Does

MN Protector is a neutral impregnator for medium-porous natural stone. Its pH-7, solvent-carried fluoropolymer penetrates up to 3 mm, lining the pores so oil molecules ≥1 µm and water droplets bead instead of soaking in. One 500 ml bottle guards 10 m² for 6-12 months, resisting red wine, grease, and coffee at 20 °C after 24 h cure.

When to Use

  • Bluestone kitchen countertops - undiluted, 200 ml/m² (/pages/problem-stain-protection)
  • Bluestone dining tables in restaurants - undiluted, 180 ml/m² for faster turnover
  • Outdoor bluestone benches - undiluted, 220 ml/m² after 48 h dry weather
  • Honed slate bathroom shelves - undiluted, 200 ml/m² (/pages/stone-slate)
  • Flamed granite BBQ tops - undiluted, 200 ml/m² (/pages/stone-granite)

How to Apply

  1. Damp-dust the surface, then let it dry until moisture meter reads ≤0.5 % (about 24 h).
  2. Pour MN Protector into a paint tray; load a lint-free cloth and wipe evenly, keeping a wet film for 2 min. PT5M
  3. After 10 min, buff off excess with a white pad to avoid streaks. PT5M
  4. Wait 24 h before use; avoid water contact during this period. PT5M

Coverage: 10 m² per 500 ml on honed bluestone, 8 m² on rough textures. Second coat not required. Full chemical resistance after 24 h at 20 °C.

Surface Compatibility

Excellent on bluestone because the neutral carrier will not etch its acid-sensitive calcite. Good on dense granite, basalt, and slate; the formula’s small polymer size can still enter their low-porosity structure. Do not use on polished surfaces where penetration is impossible.

Choosing the Right Product

For deep, permanent stain block on any finish, use MN Stain-Stop. For daily cleaning that preserves MN Protector’s hydrophobic layer, mop with MN Wash & Clean.

Pro Tips

  • Warm the stone to 18-22 °C; absorption rises 15 % compared with a cold slab.
  • Mask stainless steel taps; solvents can dull brushed finishes within 30 s.
  • Test water beading after cure; if droplets flatten, apply a maintenance coat at 150 ml/m².

Frequently asked questions

Will MN Protector change the colour of bluestone?

No. The 0 % pigment formula leaves colour ΔE <1.0 in the CIELAB test after cure.

How long must MN Protector cure on a countertop before food contact?

Allow 24 h at 20 °C and 50 % RH. Solvents evaporate below 0.5 % mass, meeting food-safe guidelines.

Can I apply MN Protector on polished granite?

No. Polishing closes the pores; use MN Stain-Stop PLUS on those surfaces instead.

How often should MN Protector be renewed in a busy restaurant?

Plan a maintenance coat every 6 months; high traffic abrades about 30 % of the polymer in that period.

Does MN Protector resist red wine on slate bar tops?

Yes. Contact angle stays above 95° for red wine even after 30 min exposure at 20 °C.
