Lithofin MN Stain-Stop >ECO<
Art. 198-11-B
Your new limestone kitchen benchtop darkens every time olive oil splashes, and patio sandstone soaks up red wine in seconds. Stain-Stop ECO fixes both problems in one coat.
What Stain-Stop ECO Does
Stain-Stop ECO is a neutral, water-based impregnator for porous natural stone. The pH 8 fluoropolymer micro-emulsion penetrates 2-4 mm, lining capillaries with 0.1 µm film that repels liquids while letting 80 % of water vapour escape. Independent tests show water uptake reduced by 90 % and oil absorption by 70 % after 24 h.
When to Use
- Freshly installed limestone floors - neat application, 150 ml/m².
- Polished marble vanity tops showing etch-prone spots - neat, 125 ml/m².
- Rough granite barbecue counters before first barbecue season - neat, 180 ml/m².
- High-traffic terracotta hallway tiles needing dirt resistance - neat, 140 ml/m².
- Outdoor slabs after deep cleaning for stain-protection - neat, 160 ml/m².
How to Apply
- Ensure surface is dry (<10 % moisture) and dust-free; tape off non-porous trim.
- Flood the stone with undiluted product using a lambswool roller, keeping a wet edge for 5 min.
- Massage puddles with a white pad; after 10 min wipe off all excess with absorbent cloths.
- Allow to cure 24 h before water contact and 48 h before food preparation.
Covers 4-8 m²/L depending on porosity. Full hydrophobic effect develops after 48 h.
Surface Compatibility
Excellent on highly porous limestone, sandstone, cotto and terracotta because the small polymer size penetrates deep voids. Good on lower-porosity surfaces such as granite, slate, terrazzo and basalt; two coats may be required. The neutral formula will not etch acid-sensitive marble. Do not use on glazed ceramic or any non-porous surface.
Choosing the Right Product
For routine cleaning after impregnation, use MN Wash & Clean. For maximum solvent-based oil repellency on commercial kitchens, use MN Stain-Stop.
Pro Tips
- Warm the room to 15-25 °C; viscosity drops 12 %, improving penetration.
- Buff with microfibre 30 min after application; this raises gloss by up to 8 GU on polished stone.
- Re-wet a stubborn patch with more product instead of scrubbing; the carrier re-opens the film for even absorption.

Frequently asked questions
Can Stain-Stop ECO be used on polished marble?
Yes. Apply 125–150 ml/m², then buff dry. Always test in a corner because high-gloss marble may darken slightly.
How long does Stain-Stop ECO need to cure before rain?
Keep the surface dry for 24 h. Full oil and water repellency is reached after 48 h.
Does Stain-Stop ECO change limestone colour?
Colour deepening is <5 % ΔL on standard limestone. A test patch confirms the result.
Is Stain-Stop ECO safe around food areas?
Yes. Once cured it is compliant with LFGB §31 for indirect food contact.
