Coverage: 5-20 m²/L depending on porosity
One product stops stains across mixed stone and tile installations.

Your new kitchen combines porous sandstone tiles with a polished granite island. Cooking oils, red wine, and everyday spills threaten both surfaces. Stainstop PLUS blocks these liquids before they penetrate, giving you a single treatment for the whole room.

What Stainstop PLUS Does

Stainstop PLUS is a neutral impregnator for natural stone, engineered stone, concrete, and unglazed ceramics. With a pH of 7 ± 1, its fluorinated polymers bond inside pores smaller than 0.1 µm, creating a water-repellent (contact angle >100°) and oil-repellent barrier. One coat resists coffee and oil for 24 h ASTM F925; two coats reach 72 h. Coverage ranges from 5 m²/L on very porous sandstone to 20 m²/L on polished marble.

When to Use

  • Freshly installed rough granite worktops - apply undiluted, 80-100 ml/m².
  • High-porosity terracotta floors - two coats undiluted, 100 ml + 60 ml/m².
  • Bathroom marble vanity after deep cleaning - single coat undiluted, 50-70 ml/m².
  • Concrete patio before winter - single coat undiluted, 70-90 ml/m².
  • Mixed-surface projects when you are unsure which sealer fits - one universal undiluted coat, 60 ml/m².

How to Apply

  1. Ensure the surface is dry <0.5 % moisture; wait 24-48 h after washing.
  2. Pour Stainstop PLUS undiluted into a paint tray and load a lint-free roller.
  3. Spread a thin, even film; keep the surface wet for 2 min, then massage with a white pad.
  4. After 10 min, buff off all excess with a dry microfibre cloth; do not leave wet spots.

Average coverage: 10-20 m²/L on dense stone, 5-10 m²/L on porous tile. Light foot traffic after 2 h; full stain resistance after the 24 h curing period. Reapply every 3-5 years.

Surface Compatibility

The formula excels on limestone, sandstone, slate, bluestone, terrazzo, and concrete because it penetrates deep without clogging pores. Neutral pH means it never etches acid-sensitive marble or cotto. Good results appear on basalt, unglazed porcelain, and ceramic. Do not use on glazed tiles, glass, or any wet surface.

Choosing the Right Product

For daily cleaning of sealed floors, use EASY-CARE. For periodic intensive cleaning before resealing, choose MN Wash & Clean. If you maintain ceramic shower walls, KF Conditioning Cleaner prevents soap build-up without stripping the impregnation.

Pro Tips

  • Warm the stone to 20 °C before application; penetration increases by up to 15 % compared to 10 °C.
  • On very porous sandstone, cross-roll the second coat within 30 min for uniform absorption.
  • Test absorbency: if water beads for 10 s, one coat is sufficient; if it darkens sooner, apply a second coat.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Stainstop PLUS different from regular Stain-Stop?

PLUS contains a 30 % higher fluoropolymer load, giving up to 72 h oil resistance and a 3–5 year service life on traffic zones.

Does a quartz composite countertop need Stainstop PLUS?

Most quartz composite arrives factory-sealed. Test with water; if no darkening after 15 min, additional sealing is unnecessary.

Can Stainstop PLUS be used on marble shower walls?

Yes. Apply one undiluted coat at 60 ml/m². Wait 24 h before water exposure to ensure full curing.

How often should limestone floors be resealed with Stainstop PLUS?

Traffic areas need reapplication every 3 years; low-use rooms can wait 5 years if water still beads for 10 s.
