Lithofin CEMENT-AWAY
Art. 010-11-B
Your newly tiled granite foyer still shows a dull grey veil; cement residue locks in dust and spoils the shine. CEMENT-AWAY strips that film in minutes, leaving the surface factory-fresh.
What CEMENT-AWAY Does
CEMENT-AWAY is an acidic cleaner for acid-resistant stone and ceramic tile. With a working pH of 1.3 it dissolves calcium silicate and calcium carbonate bonds that hold cement haze, mortar splashes, and limescale. Sulfamic and phosphoric acids release deposits in under 3 minutes, allowing you to rinse them away without etching hard substrates rated Mohs 5-7.
When to Use
- Granite lobby after grouting - use undiluted on heavy haze (1 L covers 3 m²) cement-residue
- Porcelain shower walls with limescale rings - dilute 1:3 (250 ml/m²)
- Slate patio after pointing work - dilute 1:5 (150 ml/m²) slate
- Concrete garage floor with mortar drips - pre-wet, apply 1:3 dilution concrete
- Cotto kitchen tiles before sealing - quick wipe at 1:10, rinse immediately cotto
How to Apply
- Pre-wet the surface until the stone stops darkening.
- Spread CEMENT-AWAY with a sponge, brush, or low-pressure sprayer at the chosen dilution.
- Let it react 2-3 minutes; keep the area wet and agitate with a stiff brush.
- Rinse twice with clean water, then squeegee or wet-vac.
Coverage: 3-10 m²/L depending on deposit thickness. No drying phase; neutralisation is complete after the double rinse.
Surface Compatibility
CEMENT-AWAY excels on granite, basalt, porcelain, ceramic, clinker, and pre-wetted concrete because their acid-resistant matrices (Mohs 5-7) withstand pH 1.3 without etching. On high-porosity terracotta or cotto you dilute 1:5 and rinse fast to prevent colour change. Do not use on marble, limestone, travertine, terrazzo, or any calcareous surface.
Choosing the Right Product
For invisible stain protection after cleaning, use Lithofin MN Stain-Stop. For ongoing spill resistance on glazed tiles, choose Lithofin KF Protective Impregnator.
Pro Tips
- Always test a 0.25 m² patch; reaction fizz stops when the cement bond is gone.
- Warm water (25 °C) speeds dissolution by 20 %-handy in winter site work.
- Neutralise runoff with 5 % bicarbonate to protect adjacent lawns.

Frequently asked questions
Can CEMENT-AWAY be used on slate bathroom floors?
Yes. Pre-wet the slate, dilute 1:5, and rinse within 3 minutes to avoid colour darkening.
Will CEMENT-AWAY etch polished granite?
No. Granite is Mohs 7 and acid-resistant; tests show gloss loss below 1 GU after 5 minute contact.
How much CEMENT-AWAY do I need for 40 m² of porcelain tile?
At 8 m²/L you need 5 L for medium deposits. Always buy 10 % extra for spot repeats.
Is neutralisation required after using CEMENT-AWAY?
Double rinsing with clean water is sufficient; the product leaves no active residue.
Can I spray CEMENT-AWAY on vertical clinker facades?
Yes, use a low-pressure acid-proof sprayer and catch runoff; undiluted coverage is 3 m²/L.
