What is the difference between MN Stain-Stop and MN Basic Protection?
MN Stain-Stop is solvent-based and provides both oil AND water repellency - maximum protection. Best for high-risk areas: kitchen countertops, heavily used surfaces, outdoor stone. MN Basic Protection is water-based and provides water and dirt repellency, but less oil resistance. Better for: interior floors with normal use, wall cladding, surfaces with low oil exposure. Stain-Stop is the premium choice; Basic Protection is the standard choice.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Stain-Stop, Lithofin MN Basic Protection, Lithofin MN Colour Intensifier, Lithofin MN Care-Seal
Should I use MN Wash & Clean or MN Easy-Clean for daily maintenance?
Both are pH-neutral daily cleaners, but for different situations. MN Wash & Clean is a concentrate that you dilute in mop water - ideal for floors and large areas. Economical for regular mopping. MN Easy-Clean is a ready-to-use spray - ideal for countertops, vanities, and quick spot cleaning. More convenient for small areas. For a kitchen with a marble countertop and marble floor: MN Easy-Clean spray for the countertop, MN Wash & Clean in mop water for the floor.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Wash & Clean, Lithofin MN Easy-Clean
When should I use MN Power-Clean vs KF Intensive Cleaner?
MN Power-Clean is formulated for natural stone - optimised for marble, granite, limestone, etc. KF Intensive Cleaner is formulated for ceramic tiles, cotto, and clinker. Both are alkaline intensive cleaners. If you have a natural stone surface → MN Power-Clean. If you have ceramic/porcelain tiles, cotto, or clinker → KF Intensive Cleaner. Both are safe on all surfaces (alkaline), but each is optimised for its specific surface category.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Power-Clean, Lithofin KF Intensive Cleaner
What is the difference between MN Colour Intensifier and MN Slate-Oil?
MN Colour Intensifier is a universal colour-enhancing impregnator for all natural stone types. It deepens colour and provides stain protection. Works on marble (honed only), granite, sandstone, limestone, etc. MN Slate-Oil is specifically designed for slate - it penetrates deeply into slate's layered structure for optimal colour development and consolidation. For slate: MN Slate-Oil gives the best result. For other stones: MN Colour Intensifier.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Colour Intensifier, Lithofin MN Slate-Oil
How long should I leave OIL-EX on a stain?
Apply OIL-EX as a thick layer (5mm+) over the stain, extending 2cm beyond the stain edges. Cover with cling film to prevent the paste from drying out. Leave for: Fresh stains (< 24h old): 2-4 hours. Moderate stains (days old): 6-12 hours. Old stains (weeks/months): 12-24 hours. Very deep stains: multiple applications may be needed. After removing the paste, clean the area with MN Wash & Clean. If the stain has reduced but not disappeared, repeat the process.
Recommended: Lithofin OIL-EX, Lithofin MN Wash & Clean
I forgot to remove excess Stain-Stop and now there are marks. What do I do?
Dried Stain-Stop residue shows as dark spots or a hazy film. Remove with Lithofin MN Power-Clean undiluted - apply, leave 10-15 minutes, scrub vigorously with a nylon pad, rinse. Repeat if needed. For very stubborn residue, Lithofin WAX-OFF (solvent-based) may help dissolve it. This is why removing excess within 10-15 minutes is critical - always wipe back the excess before it dries.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Power-Clean, Lithofin WAX-OFF
How long should I leave ALGEX before rinsing?
Leave ALGEX for 24-48 hours for best results. The product needs time to penetrate and kill the biological growth (algae, moss, lichen) at the root level. Apply on a dry surface when rain is not expected for at least 24 hours. After 24-48 hours, you can either rinse with a garden hose/pressure washer, or in some cases, let natural rainfall wash away the dead growth over the following weeks. ALGEX continues to work preventively after treatment.
Recommended: Lithofin KF Mildew-Away, Lithofin MN Outdoor Cleaner, Lithofin ALGEX
How long should I leave Anti-Slip on the surface?
Contact time is critical and varies by surface type: Marble/limestone/calcareous stone: 5-8 minutes maximum (acid-sensitive). Granite/basalt/slate: 10-15 minutes (acid-resistant). Porcelain/ceramic tiles: 10-15 minutes. Always test on a small area first to check the effect. Shorter time = less texture change, less anti-slip effect. Longer time = more texture change, more anti-slip effect. Rinse very thoroughly after the contact time.
Recommended: Lithofin Anti-Slip
When should I use WEXA instead of regular cleaners?
Lithofin WEXA is the heavy-duty option for extreme soiling situations: thick grease deposits in commercial kitchens, soot and fire damage, rubber tyre marks on stone floors, heavy industrial soiling. It is strongly alkaline and much more powerful than MN Power-Clean or KF Intensive Cleaner. Use WEXA when regular cleaners are not strong enough. Safe for all stone types (alkaline). Dilute 1:5 to 1:20 depending on soiling. Wear gloves and eye protection.
Recommended: Lithofin MN Power-Clean, Lithofin KF Intensive Cleaner, Lithofin MN Easy-Clean, Lithofin MN Outdoor Cleaner
